1890'sVictorian Embroidered Organza & Silk Dress. The underskirt: two layers of ivory China silk, top layer pleated and tiered. Overskirt: Ivory silk organza, embroidered with zigzag lattice design of charcoal and white. Trimmed with lightly gathered aqua china silk and black velvet skinny ribbon. Top of overdress was pinned as closure in back.
Reconstruction of waistline possible.
Extra embroidered organza fabric included from when dress was first made.
Dress top: lined in polished cotton and supported with 13 bone stays. Underlayer fabric: aqua china silk overlaid with ivory lattice organza and bands of ivory lace. Skinny black velvet ribbon frames bodice top.
Some tears in ivory lace in top.
Dress deserves restoration and preservation.
Size: Small. Top: bustline 32", waistline 23". Skirt Waistline 23".
Extra lattice fabric, 30" wide x 70".
